The Good, the Bad, and the UglyCycle
Action Auckland is committed to making Auckland a better place for
cyclists. One way we can do this is to get your feedback on the
good and bad experiences about cycling. We also need to know
about your incidents and near misses. Please report these to us
and if you come across some great new facilities for cyclists you
haven't seen before, let us know about these too.

If the good or bad news can be consistently located on an Auckland map, add it to the Cyclist Input Map too.
Reporting a hazard or problemHave
you got a request for an improvement or spotted a hazard for
cyclists that your local road controlling authority can do something
about? It's important to report it as soon as possible, so please
contact
the relevant Council and ask them to let you know when it's
fixed.
Reporting unsafe driving - Police RoadwatchClick
here
to do it online at the Police Roadwatch website. This is quick
and easy, won't take up much of your time, and will likely result in a
letter being sent to the offending driver. You'll need the
registration number, and ideally the make and model, of the vehicle. Use the CarJam site to cross-check the vehicle details. Reporting unsafe driving (with a view to prosecution)
You're going to need to be committed here. You must lay a formal complaint at your nearest Police station, and be prepared to take time out to go to Court.
I've had a crash with a motor vehicle - what should I do?We
hope you're OK! Please note it's REALLY important that
you file a crash report with the Police and that the Police take the
incident seriously. If you're injured it's even more important -
in fact it's a legal requirement that the crash be reported as soon as
practicable and certainly within 24 hours.
Here are two checklists that will help with this.
The first
is a Serious
crash checklist to help you to note all the details
of
your crash. This information can help you when dealing with the police
and insurance companies.
The second is an Incident
checklist
in the event that
you wish to report an accident or incident to the police. You
might like to print these out and carry them with you in a backpack or
seatbag for easy reference. Take photos with your mobile phone
camera too.
